In my previous blog, I highlighted some of the new technologies being introduced every day that are designed to enhance safety for a building and its tenants. Finding ways to fit those solutions into a budget is a critical responsibility for facility managers.
However, the workplace needs to be more than safe. It should also be an environment that fosters productivity and helps attract and retain employees. Creating that kind of environment is another responsibility that falls on the shoulders of facility managers.
As a facility manager, you know that optimizing a facility to ensure the workplace environment remains functional is not a 9-to-5 job. It’s something that requires attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the challenges are always great.
It’s no surprise, then, that a well-run facility requires a manager with the ability to wear many different hats. This got me thinking—what does it take to be a successful facility manager in a workplace evolving at a pace unlike we’ve ever seen?
I recently read this excellent article posted on the ISS blog. It is a great look at the 3 top traits of successful facility managers. One trait it mentioned that jumped out to me was this:
“A great facility manager is someone [who] embraces changes and is not afraid of challenging status quo by implementing new innovative solutions that can create new cost-efficiencies, support organizational transformation or take on new cross-organizational responsibilities to support the strategic goals of the organization.”
There are other interesting insights on effective facility management in the article as well. I highly recommend you check it out when you have the time.
When it comes to creating a better, more cost-effective facility environment, World Dryer can definitely help facility managers as they strive to achieve this important goal. Our surface-mounted ADA compliant VERDEdri™ is one example. Not only does it use just 950 watts of power, it is also equipped with a HEPA filtration system so cleanliness is never a question. It’s the perfect solution for any facility where cost savings and convenience matter.
Whether you’ve been in facilities management for more than 20 years or just starting out in the business, being the best you can be should always be top of mind. We at World Dryer look forward to helping facility managers like you be more successful while also ensuring your building stays cost-efficient with our host of hand-drying solutions. To me, that is the ultimate win-win scenario!
